If lucky on time, I'll try and put together some short posts. If not... it might be a quiet week in this little corner of the webiverse. In the meantime, anyway, you didn't get your Maia picture last week.
She has been a very jealous lap kitty lately—ever since it got cold, I suppose. Also, that picture was taken before I got my hair cut off again.
|I kind of suck at taking these at-arm's-length pictures,|
but you get the idea.
There are challenges that are a lot of work or frightening or difficult on other grounds, and then there are challenges that demand you do more of the sort of thing you find relaxing and enjoyable. In the latter spirit, I'm signing up for the Fairy Tales Retold reading challenge over at Debz Bookshelf:
|Want to join? Flit on over to Debz Bookshelf!|
I'll draw mostly from a few Goodreads recommendation lists, notably Best Girls' Fairy Tale Books and Fairy Tale Retellings: Hidden Gems, but I'll also look over suggestions, so feel free to make them in the combox.
* * *
Off I go to chant the Magnificat and finish the laundry. Enjoy your Monday... and in case I don't make it back this week, your Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and so on, too.
Take the time off you need, we're not going anywhere.ReplyDelete
Say, with this new format I can't expand the Maia pix.
Fairy tale retellings:
A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan (SF Sleeping Beauty)
My Fair Godmother by Janette Rallison, very fun
I have My Fair Godmother on my list of possibilities, actually!Delete
What new format? I didn't change anything. Blogger in general recently switched to a sort of preview thing for when you click on pictures, where it pops up in the middle of the screen instead of opening in a new tab. It does it in all my browsers, and I dislike it strongly myself, but have yet to figure out if it can be turned off.
The blog shows only headlines and the beginning of the first paragraph, no photos, no sidebar.ReplyDelete
Dadburn new mobile version.Delete
Well, I tried to change it, but according to Lou's ipad, I did absolutely nothing. So anyway, it's showing you a preview of the blog instead of the blog itself, and if you want to read a post, you click on an arrow.
I'm no fan of post previews and don't have my RSS set up that way, so I don't know why it's doing it on the mobile. Hopefully I can eventually figure out how to change it, but for now... if you click on the arrow, you can see the whole post and expand the Maia picture.
Hmmm, I could see the blog just fine. Both on the computer & on my Google Reader app on my Kindle Fire HD.ReplyDelete
And I was able to see the expanded picture of Maia, so all was well. :)
Have a quiet week & Blessed Holidays. After spending the weekend sick & missing church, I still have three sermons to write for the upcoming week. At least tomorrow's sermon is done.
Eep! Good luck with all those sermons. I hope you're feeling better.Delete
Glad you didn't have any trouble with the cat picture. And blessed holidays to you as well! :)
I've noticed a couple other blogs being preview only (thanks for the term). And I see this fine on computer. It makes me wonder if I have an iPad setting that's doing this that I don't know about.ReplyDelete
There's other oddness. If on the iPad I open the post and try to expand Maia's picture, I get taken to the previous post. I'm going to have to look into this.
Ooh, that one didn't happen to me. I have no idea what would be causing that, or how to re-create it! Am about to head out of town, but I can keep an eye out for such weirdnesses when I return.Delete
The new haircut suits you very well. I like it. c:ReplyDelete
I would like to do the Fairy Tales Retold challenge, but I wish that adult re-tellings were included. Bah!
Thanks. And so do I! :)Delete
If you like, you can check out my reading challenge. I've made a list of possible books and I even made a special Goodreads shelf :) You might find some nice books there! Good luck with your challenge :D It's going to be fun!ReplyDelete
Thanks, Mel! Good luck to you, too. :)Delete
Ooo, I was all set to sign up for that challenge -- but then I saw that adult retellings were excluded. I don't have any beef with YA / middle grades as such, but . . . well, I might end up reading some of those books anyway, but I'm not as hyped as I would have been. Oh, well!ReplyDelete
Yeah, I sympathize. It's just that I would probably mostly read the kid stuff anyway. :) But I do wish the adult ones were included! Maybe someday I'll host a challenge that allows for the lot. Or Christie can do it. :DDelete
