In truth, light isn't just a bal...

I also agree. In truth, light isn't just a balance for darkness; it's the healing for the wound, a wondrous brilliance against which darkness can't prevail. Even a single match flame overcomes an entirely dark room. The important role of darkness is to submit to the light and accentuate it, showing how bright it is in comparison. Where "dark" stories fail is when they're out of balance, giving only minimal or dimmed light, or no light at all; as this goes against natural law and spiritual truth, it makes for unsatisfying and unedifying, and most definitely, untruthful reading. This is why, for me, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire were so good, and Mockingjay so awful, depressing, and hope-challenged. The match flame was too weak, flickering under a thick shade which cast only more shadows in a dim room.

--Arabella

Milk and cookies!
